Every Story Has a First Chapter

Hello! I am so glad you have chosen to read my blog. Homegrown Grace came about after a recent conversation with a friend who told me I need to have grace for myself in every aspect of my life. Grace? For myself? I've had grace for others but never thought about the concept of giving myself grace. It felt like an odd concept the more I thought about it but I realized it is true. We live in this crazy world where life keeps going whether we are ready for it or not.

If you are like me, it helps to know that someone else is going through something that you are going through. So I am starting this blog to write about my experiences, my struggles and the lessons I learn along the way to, maybe, help people like yourself not feel so alone.

But first.... Let me introduce myself. I'm April! I am a wife to an amazing husband and we have been married since September 2015. Together, we have two beautiful little girls; Brianna who is currently 8 years old and Maddie who is 2 years old. Of course, we have fur babies who also take a special place in my heart; slobber and all. We are originally from Colorado but moved to Kansas a little over a year ago. Yes, I bet you are thinking, Colorado to Kansas? Why on earth would you want to move there? The cost of living in Colorado drove us to a cheaper place to live and here we are!

During the day I work from home, full-time, as a Compliance Specialist for a Credit Union and have been in the Credit Union world for 10 years. I wish I could say I am where I wanted to be but God had different plans! I went to Western State Colorado University and got my Bachelor's in English Literature with an emphasis in Creative Writing. Then I ended up with a full-time job in a credit union and haven't left since! It is crazy to think we have these big plans in college but sometimes our plans don't line up with God's plan. When I am not working, being a mom, serving God or living life, I am painting, drawing, writing or spending my time outdoors.
